The Diamond Sutra(jingangjing)
This rubbing of the Diamond Sutra (Vajracchedikā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra) was written by Liu Gongquan of the Tang dynasty. This rubbing was inscribed in the fourth year of the Tang Changqing era (when Liu Gongquan was 47 years old). It was engraved by Qiang Yan and Shao Jian (a total of twelve stones, eleven characters per line), but the original stones were destroyed during the Song dynasty. This scroll is a unique Tang rubbing (with every character intact). It was discovered in the Dunhuang caves at the end of the Qing dynasty and was taken by Paul Pelliot. It is now housed in the National Library of France.
This Diamond Sutra (Vajracchedikā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra) was engraved in April of the fourth year of the Tang Changqing era (824), when Liu Gongquan was forty-seven years old. The Diamond Sutra was engraved on horizontal stones, a total of twelve stones, eleven characters per line. The original stones were destroyed during the Song dynasty. In 1908, a unique Tang rubbing was discovered in the Dunhuang caves, with every character intact, extremely rare, and a precious treasure among Dunhuang manuscripts.
